Aston Martin at Roberts Aerospace & Automotive

In 2005 a Roberts Aerospace and Automotive prepared Aston Martin DB6 won "best classic" at the prestigious Fort Brockhurst classic car show.

Oil changes are really important for an Aston - the service schedule calls for a complete change (13 litres) every 1500 miles. This because the high oil pressure (up to 120 psi), extreme conditions inside the engine, and modest effectiveness of the oil filter - the same as on an 850cc Mini. We usually use "Duckhams Hypergrade" - the green stuff - as originally specified. It really suits the engine, nothing else seems to maintain oil pressure quite as high quite as long.

We offer fixed price servicing for classic Aston Martins (DB6 as example):

Every 1500 Miles Mid season service (engine oil change, new oil filter, new air filter, fluids topped up, vehicle condition check, fan belt checked & adjusted, grease points greased) £249.00
Every 5000 Miles or annually Annual service (engine oil change, new oil filter, new air filter, new fuel filter, new fan belt, fluids topped up, brake check, vehicle condition check, grease points greased, handbrake pads checked & adjusted, ignition timing checked & adjusted, timing chains checked and adjusted) £349.00
New front brake pads fitted £199.00
New rear brake pads fitted £199.00
  New handbrake pads fitted £199.00

All prices are inclusive of parts, labour, and applicable taxes and use either Aston Martin parts, or the equivalent original manufacturer if appropriate.

We have experience of everything from rebuilding brake calipers to fitting clutches and head gasket replacement at an hourly rate that's significantly more modest than many of the better known specialists.

Annular Clutch Release Bearing System

As well as the usual servicing and repairs we have also developed an annular clutch release bearing mechanism for 5 Speed ZF equipped cars. This both reduces pedal pressure and increases feel, making the driving experience much better, but also means that if your car doesn't have the one remaining clutch type that's in production, but one of the two that are no longer available, then you don't have to destructively modify your car in order to get the clutch release arm to work.

This system is not really suitable for home installation as it has been designed for professional fitting. However, if you're brave enough to drill holes in your bell housing and won't moan at us if you muck it up, then we'll sell you one...

Annular Clutch Release Bearing System

Existing System

New system

An interesting halfway house between the original carbon bush release bearing and the new annular release bearing is to use a ball race release bearing. It improves ease of driving in traffic as the engine revs don't drop when you disengage the clutch. Lets face it, the carbon bush bearing is basically the same as the one fitted to the contemporary Hillman Imp and not really up to the rigours of an Aston Martin! It's a cheap modification for £99.
