Equipment Rental
Many enthusiasts like to work on their own cars, however, with modern classics like Alfa Romeos, this proves difficult due to the huge number of special tools and equipment needed.
In order to help out owners that wish to repair their own cars, we are able to offer a rental service for our Examiner diagnostic computer.
The Examiner we rent out is our "Examiner One" which will communicate with all Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Lancia types up until the end of 2005. It will communicate with vehicles built after this date as long as they are of a type that was introduced before - so no 159s or Breras, but everything from the 33 to 147, GT, GTV, Spider, 156, 155, 166, 164, etc. etc. is ok.
This Examiner is the ultimate Examiner One version with the CAN connector and the DVOM analogue card as well as the usual MPX97 connector. So, is great for debugging Selespeed gearboxes, tricky problems with ABS, or reprogramming all sorts of functions on Fiat Stilos.
As the equipment is extremely valuable and quite portable, a substantial deposit is required and there are stringent identification requirements. Do not try to rip us off, it won't work and you'll just be wasting everyone's time.
We do not post this out, please do not ask. The first time you rent it, it will need to be delivered so that we can check out your identity and your address. Subsequent occasions, you can collect it, or it can be delivered.
Cost for a long weekend (Fri - Mon) is about what a main dealer would charge you for hooking up your car to this same equipment once. Please enquire for longer periods, or during the week.
As well as the Examiner One system itself, there are a number of test kits that are also available for hire that measure fuel/cylinder/oil pressure, temperature, voltage, and allow sensor outputs to be recorded on the Examiner digital oscilloscope such as the RPM sensor or the Lambda sensor. These are available individually on request.
We also have the original diagnostic equipment for all Alfa Romeo, Lancia, and Fiat vehicles prior to the early '90s that the Examiner One deals with. This includes rare in the UK vehicles such as the Ferrari engined Lancia Thema 8.32. Please note that the software is in German, but this is not a big problem.
